LinkedIn Adds Member Photos

Christopher KataThe popular business networking site LinkedIn has finally decided to allow user the option to upload a single photo of themselves. According to the LinkedIn blog, it was the single most requested feature from the user-base. Apparently users feel they can recognize people by face better than by name – hence the overwhelming number of requests.

I happen to agree. I think we’ll see a jump in connections being made on LinkedIn as a result. LinkedIn is take privacy very seriously so they’ve given users the option to control who gets to see their picture – connections, their network, or everyone. Good options! In addition, members can control whether photos are shown to them even if they are available, so if you’re old school you can turn the new feature off!

As if this was not enough, they’ve made sure that members can easily zoom in and crop their hi-res photo to exactly what you want. Now that’s a good feature especially since many people don’t have the foggiest idea how to edit an image – although that is slowly changing over time.

I’m glad LinkedIn has added this feature, and I for one will be adding my photo!
